Job Description

Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) – Full Time
Schedule: 72 hours per 2-week pay period | 12-hour varied shifts (including weekends)
Location: Scripps Memorial Encinitas

Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas has served the growing communities of San Diego’s coastal North County since 1978. We offer a full range of clinical and surgical services, including North County’s first Primary Stroke Center, a regionally recognized brain injury program, state-of-the-art imaging center, 24-hour emergency room care and award-winning OB-GYN, maternal health and infant health services.The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in an Acute Care setting.

As an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech), you will play a vital role in supporting patient care within the emergency department or urgent care setting. Working under the supervision of nurses and physicians, you will assist with essential clinical and operational tasks to ensure efficient, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist nurses and physicians with patient care activities and procedures
  • Obtain and document vital signs
  • Perform patient care tasks, including thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, and simple dressings and splints 
  • Collect stool and urine specimens
  • Transport patients as needed
  • Provide coverage for unit secretary duties when needed

 

This position is Full Time (72 hours per pay period), 12 hour Varied shift, work schedule that includes weekends and holidays. Position is located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.

Required Qualifications:
  • Certified EMT (EMT, AEMT or Paramedic) or CNA

  • BLS Healthcare Provider Certifications through American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of experience in a healthcare acute care setting

Position Pay Range: $25.95-$32.56/hour
