Scripps Mercy Hospital has served central and downtown San Diego since 1890 and is the oldest medical center in the county. The San Diego campus is located near the corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street in Hillcrest.

Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista. 

Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego’s campus includes the O’Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit).

Job Description

Manager position is eligible to participate in the Manager Incentive Plan.

This is an Exempt position located in Hillcrest and you will float throughout the system to all five Scripps Health Hospital campuses:  Scripps Mercy Chula Vista and San Diego; Scripps La Jolla; Scripps Green; and Scripps Encinitas.

About the role: 

Ø  As Manager, Patient Care RN – Hemodialysis, you will create and maintain an environment that assures nursing practice reflects established standards of care and practice and a culture that promotes patient safety.

Ø  Be responsible for the daily operations of assigned nursing unit, including creating and managing staffing plans and ensuring appropriate equipment and resources are available to staff to do their job.

Ø  Ensure appropriate and timely use of bed placement technology and adherence to care processes for bed placement/patient transfer/patient transport/room cleaning and patient discharge.

Ø  Ensure the safe transition of patients through the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to next appropriate level of care.

Ø  Be accountable for meeting operational budgets for assigned department.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

·         Associate’s degree plus five years applicable clinical experience, two of which in a leadership role.

·         Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.

·         Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.

·         Graduate of an accredited program.

 

Required Certification/Registration:

·         Maintains current California RN license.

·         Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification or American Red Cross BLS and all competencies/certifications required of the charge RN on the unit. 

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

·         Bachelor’s/Master’s degree or MSN preferred.

·         Certification in area of specialty preferred if applicable.

·         Provision of apheresis, peritoneal dialysis, and/or continuous renal replacement therapy leadership experience. 

 

Position Pay Range: $76.33-$110.68/hour

Please note that actual pay will be determined based on relevant experience and internal equity within the pay range. Please also note this range is applicable for employees who reside in California only. A geographical pay differential may be applied for remote employees who reside out of state.
