Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas’ campus includes Scripps Clinic Encinitas and an outpatient imaging center. We’re home to notable specialty programs including a 24-hour emergency room, accredited stroke care, physical rehabilitation services (including a brain injury day treatment program), our Baby Friendly birthing pavilion and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit.
Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Full Time
Schedule: 72 hours per 2-week pay period | 12-hour Night shifts (1900-0730)
Location: Scripps Encinitas ICU
This position is eligible for New Hire and Relocation Incentives up to $7K
Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas has served North County’s coastal communities since 1978. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Encinitas is a general medical surgical ICU with 12 beds, all private rooms. Our highly engaged nurses provide exceptional patient care in a compassionate, welcoming environment. The RN Clinical Mentor functions primarily as an RN with additional duties, like:
- Takes responsibility for assigned patients during RN relief periods.
- Works collaboratively and educationally with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.
- Takes responsibility for education and guidance of Registered Nurses regarding the nursing process, critical thinking, accountability for the plan of care and it’s relation to patient outcomes, and communication/collaboration with all team members.
- Functions as a clinical expert, role model, mentor and resource in a designated practice area.
- Works collaboratively with the Charge Nurse, Educator and Manager of that area to develop a learning environment for the caregivers, as well as a service, outcome and care oriented environment for the patients.

In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met:
- Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)
- Must remain in original department/specialty
- Must remain in original Job Title
- Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.
Required Qualifications:
- California Registered Nurse License
- Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certification
- Minimum three years experience in an acute care setting preferred as an RN
- Minimum two years of recent RN experience in an adult ICU
- Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- NIHHS Stroke Certification within first six months of employment required.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or the equivalent preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- CRT Certification
- Organ Transplant experience as an RN
