Position Summary

The AVP, Ambulatory and Accountable Care provides executive leadership and accountability for the activities and functions that support ambulatory growth and value-based care across the Scripps Health enterprise.

This leader aligns resources and strategies to achieve organizational objectives while partnering with:

  • Corporate and Business Development
  • Population Health
  • Scripps Medical Foundation and affiliated medical groups
  • Clinical service lines
  • Payor Relations
  • Health Plan Services
  • Enterprise Care Management

The role oversees and leads:

  • Analytics and business intelligence
  • Strategic project and program management
  • Clinical intelligence initiatives
  • Client and physician relations
  • Ambulatory operations
  • Accountable Care Organization (ACO) performance

Current areas of responsibility include:

  • MSSP
  • Qualcomm employee health centers
  • Population Health Administration
  • Project Management
  • Data Science and Analytics
  • Service Line Registries and Analytics

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Support and enable organizational goals across ambulatory and accountable care functions.
  • Align customer initiatives with enterprise priorities.
  • Develop analytic strategies that support growth and performance improvement.
  • Maintain visibility into budgets and operational performance.
  • Drive process improvement and operational excellence.

Ambulatory Operations Oversight

  • Partner with physicians and providers to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Foster collaboration between clinical and operational teams.
  • Provide oversight for clinics, programs, departments, and patient care centers.
  • Ensure accountability for:
    • Compliance
    • Quality outcomes
    • Service excellence
    • Workforce engagement
    • Leadership development
  • Lead strategic planning and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Manage clinic budgets and financial performance.

Data & Analytics Leadership

  • Direct development of business and clinical intelligence capabilities.
  • Support growth, performance improvement, and identification of opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison for enterprise analytics initiatives.
  • Lead strategic evaluations and special projects.

Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Leadership

  • Lead physician engagement and network development activities.
  • Oversee performance improvement efforts with independent providers.
  • Drive provider integration across the network.
  • Maintain expertise in:
    • ACO regulations
    • Employer contract requirements
    • Performance targets
    • Industry best practices
  • Establish and monitor performance goals.

     

     

Workforce Development

  • Recruit, develop, evaluate, and lead directors, managers, and staff.
  • Coach leaders to strengthen communication, teamwork, and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure staff competency through:
    • Hiring and onboarding
    • Training and development
    • Performance management
    • Safety education
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Partnerships

Works closely with physician and administrative leadership throughout the organization to achieve strategic and operational objectives.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.

  • Approximately 8–10 years of progressively responsible healthcare leadership experience.
  • Preferably within an outpatient healthcare environment.

Skills:

  • Strategic planning and problem-solving expertise.
  • Proven success leading high-performing organizations.
  • Experience improving operational efficiency in growth-oriented environments.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to represent the organization effectively with integrity, professionalism, and compassion.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate teams in support of Scripps Health’s mission, vision, and values.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Additional advanced healthcare leadership experience.
  • Clinic operations, primary care, rehab and/or population health leadership experience.

 

 

 

Position Pay Range: $00.01-$500.00/hour

In compliance with the California Pay Transparency Act, Scripps Health posts the pay range for all jobs. Please note that actual pay will be determined based on relevant experience and internal equity within the pay range. Please also note this range is applicable for employees who reside in California only. A geographical pay differential may be applied for remote employees who reside out of state.
