This is a full time 12-hr DAY shift position located in Encinitas.

The Outpatient Observation Unit is a 20-bed hospital-based outpatient unit located on the first floor of the Acute Care Building at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas. The department provides care for outpatient observation and extended recovery patients requiring less than 24 hours of care. Patients may be admitted from the Emergency Department, direct physician observation admissions, or post-procedural/post-operative recovery. The unit cares for a variety of telemetry, medical, and procedural patients in a fast-paced environment focused on safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.

Patient care includes assessment, planning, and implementing a plan of care and evaluation of the patients’ progress towards expected outcomes. With quality patient and family-centered care in mind, RNs take primary responsibility for the patients’ care as delivered by the Care Team under your supervision. You will work collaboratively with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.

In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met:
- Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)
- Must remain in original department/specialty
- Must remain in original Job Title
- Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.

Required Qualifications:
- One (1) year of RN experience.
- Current CA RN License
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider through American Heart Association
- Registered nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
- Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN
- One year of acute Medical/Surgical RN experience
- Telemetry or Progressive Care experience
- Other Certifications: CMSRN, NIHHS Stroke Certification, ACLS
- Epic EHR working experience.
