About the role:

The AVP, Lab Services provides executive leadership and strategic oversight for system-wide laboratory operations, including clinical laboratories, pathology services, and specialized diagnostic programs. The AVP ensures high-reliability operations, clinical quality, regulatory compliance, fiscal stewardship, and an exceptional service experience for patients, providers, and internal partners. This role serves as a key advisor to senior executives, collaborates closely with physician partners, and advances system strategies related to access, technology modernization, workforce planning, and operational efficiency across all lab service lines.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field (e.g. Biology or Chemistry).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in clinical laboratory operations within a large, integrated healthcare system or reference laboratory.
- Proven success in leading multi-site, high-volume core laboratory operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance, process improvement, and strategic project implementation.
- Experience managing large operational budgets and vendor contracts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (MHA, MBA, MPH) or related advanced degree
- ASCP or relevant board certification
- Experience leading system-wide lab redesign/modernization (e.g., consolidation, automation, outreach)
- Expertise in LIS, digital pathology, and advanced diagnostics technologies
- Background in Lean/Six Sigma and large-scale performance improvement
- Experience partnering with physician leadership to drive clinical integration and quality
- Proven success in workforce strategy and labor optimization
- Experience in value-based care, lab outreach growth, and network optimization
- Strong executive presence with a track record of leading enterprise-wide change
