The Scripps Perioperative Education Program (PEP), which provides the essential foundation for a career in perioperative nursing, is based on the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Periop 101 Program.
Program Eligibility Requirements*
- Experienced RN: One year of RN experience
- Current California RN license
- New Graduate RN: Experience required for cohort will be listed in the individual job requisition at the time of posting
- BLS for Health Care Provider from the American Heart Association
*New graduate RN positions are not guaranteed for each cohort. Individual job requisition will indicate if the program is open to new graduate RNs.

- 24 weeks

- Didactic online modules from AORN Periop 101 core curriculum
- Skills labs
- Assigned Scripps eLearning and AORN videos
- Precepted clinical rotations in surgical services
- Instructor-led presentations
