Job Description
This is a full-time, benefit eligible position for evening shift located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.

The Lead Security Officer supports Scripps Health through the performances of duties which provide a reasonably safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, medical staff, and property. Is a visible deterrent to criminal activity and actively patrols assigned areas. Ensures policies and procedures are carried out and reports non-compliance. Responds to emergency situations and when appropriate provides guidance for the safe management of the situation, communicating with leadership as necessary. Must be able to assume control of security related emergencies. Monitors and arranges shift activities and post coverage according to schedule requirements and staff availability. Is primary liaison between security operations, law enforcement, and key stakeholders in the healthcare environment to include, clinical staff, charge nurses, physicians, and other healthcare leadership. Provides leadership, guidance, training, and orientation for new and current security officers. Demonstrates a work style that is supportive of the security leadership team and reflects the mission, vision, and values of Scripps Health.
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- 1 year security, law enforcement, military, or related.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Required Certification/Registration:
- CA Driver’s License.
- Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW aka TASER) User Certification X26P (within 90 days).
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional.
- CA BSIS CA Security Guard.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
- Associates Degree POST PC 832 Laws of Arrest.
- 2 years security, law enforcement, military, or related.
