Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista. 

Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista provides a variety of medical and surgical services, including inpatient and outpatient care. Within the hospital you’ll find our 24-hour emergency room and many other specialty services ranging from cancer care to stroke care.

Job Description

This is a Full Time, 12-Hour Night Shift (72 hours per two week pay period), position located at our Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista in the heart of San Diego’s South Bay Community.

Scripps Mercy Hospital, Chula Vista is located approximately eight miles from the Mexico border, serving San Diego County’s fast-growing South Bay communities.  Our highly skilled team on the Definitive Observation Unit (DOU) thrives in an environment that is family-oriented and where everyone is ready to jump in and help each other succeed.  Excellence in patient and family-centered care is extremely important and has resulted in our high patient satisfaction scores.

This is a fast paced, 36 bed DOU unit.  The RN is responsible for providing direct patient care within the scope of his/her practice.  Patient care includes assessment, planning and implementing a plan of care and evaluating patients’ progress towards expected outcomes.  The RN takes primary responsibility for the patients’ care as delivered by the Care Team under his/her supervision.  You will work collaboratively with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Nursing degree from an Accredited School of Nursing
  • Current CA State RN license
  • One year of recent RN experience
  • Minimum 6 months experience in acute care or LTAC
  • American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider, BLS and ACLS certification
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and follow instructions in English
  • Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors

Preferred Qualifications:    

  • At least 6 months of experience in a DOU, PCU, Tele or Stepdown Unit
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Position Pay Range: $59.16-$85.68/hour
