Job Description
Our Scripps System-wide Resource Services (SSRS) department supports the entire Scripps Health system. As a member of the SSRS team, you will fill vital roles on assignments throughout the system to provide critical coverage for employee leave of absences, sick calls, and peak service demands while gaining experience in a variety of environments.
Join our Scripps SSRS team as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) where you will provide direct patient care within the scope of your practice. This includes the following:
- Provides excellent service to patients as a key member of the clinical care team.
- Assists patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and ensures the patient has a safe, organized environment.
- Assists with patient care within the scope permitted and under the direction of a clinician.
- Supports the unit with a variety of patient logistic, clerical, equipment/supply, and charge reconciliation duties.
We are currently interviewing for Full-Time (72 hours) Nights.
We offer 2 types of positions with our SSRS PCA Team:
SYSTEM-WIDE FLOAT TEAM – Permanent Scripps employees who support the day-to-day and short-term assignments.
SYSTEM-WIDE RESOURCE TEAM – Permanent Scripps employees who are full-time and may be contracted to one site for 4 weeks, up to 6 months at a time, to fill a leave of absence or vacancy. Once the contract is complete, then the PCA will be assigned to cover another contract.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- One year of recent experience working under the license of an licensed healthcare provider OR current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school OR current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals
- Must be able to speak, read and follow instruction in English
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a service aptitude
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
- CNA certification
- Multiple patient care skills preferred
- Preferred one year acute care experience
Travel Requirements:
- Must be willing to work at all five (5) Scripps Health hospital campuses: Encinitas, La Jolla, Torrey Pines, San Diego, and Chula Vista.
