Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of large-scale capital projects, including the Encinitas rebuild, La Jolla expansions, San Marcos hospital campus development, and the Mercy San Diego and Mercy Chula Vista rebuilds.

Partner with executive leadership and the Board of Trustees on long-range facilities and capital planning, ensuring alignment with Scripps’ strategic priorities and regulatory mandates (e.g., seismic compliance).

Serve as the system leader for design standards, sustainability initiatives, and innovation in healthcare facilities.

Project Delivery & Oversight

Direct multiple concurrent projects, managing overall scope, budget, and schedule performance.

With guidance from executive leadership, facilitate the selection, negotiation, and management of architectural, engineering, and general contracting partners.

Implement best-practice project management methodologies to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and safe delivery of all construction programs.

Proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and report transparently to executive leadership and committees.

Regulatory & Compliance Leadership

Act as the primary executive liaison with OSHPD/HCAI and other authorities having jurisdiction.

Ensure compliance with California seismic and hospital construction regulations, federal/state/local codes, and industry standards.

Anticipate regulatory challenges and guide projects through required approvals and inspections.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, clinical leaders, and staff to ensure facilities meet patient care needs.

Present capital program updates, risks, and financial impacts to executive committees and the Board.

Foster positive relationships with community partners, regulators, and external stakeholders.

Organizational & Team Leadership
