Job Description

This is a full-time 12-hr shift Days position working 72 hours per pay period.

Located at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.

Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, Medical Oncology Unit/Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) is a 71-bed unit providing patient centered care. 

About the role: 

The clinical coach is a mentor and facilitator who guides and supervises nursing activities and learning experiences for the new graduate RN/ and or RN trainee as s/he progresses towards clinical and professional independence.

The clinical coach serves as a teacher, facilitator, and professional example to the new graduate nurse. Responsible for the socialization of the New Graduate Nurse to the environment.

Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • A minimum of two years bedside nursing required.
  • Previous experience in a preceptor role preferred.
  • Consistently demonstrates advanced skills in each of the following domains:  Patient/Family relationship. Compassion. Respect for diversity. Rights and dignity. trustworthiness. Collaboration with MD/team Interdisciplinary care process. Individualized, comprehensive plan of care. Patient Advocacy. Critical thinking/Clinical judgment. Competency. Prioritization. Clinical outcomes leadership. Influences practice 
  • Facilitates the professional development of others.
  • Uses participation in professional organizations to impact practice.
  • Models professional behavior. Influences the health of the community Shares knowledge gained in professional organizations or programs attended. 
  • Encourages participation in professional organizations. Shapes others clinical understanding through debriefing and role modeling behavior.

Required Certification/Registration:

  • National Certification preferred.

Required Education/Course(s)/Training:

  • RN required.
  • BSN strongly preferred
  • AHA BLS

Position Pay Range: $59.75-$86.53/hour

Please also note this range is applicable for employees who reside in California only. A geographical pay differential may be applied for remote employees who reside out of state.
