Job Description
This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Thursday from 6:30am-4:30pm. Hours will vary as needed. Located at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla (Torrey Pines area).

What you’ll do:
- Perform apheresis procedures on patients following established standard operating procedures
- Prepare and maintain apheresis machines and equipment
- Comply with regulatory requirements of the cellular therapy program
- Obtain/measure and record patient data in the EMR
- Communicate to RN changes in health status of the donor or patient before, during, and after the procedure
- Collect, label and store blood components properly
- Ensure proper identification of patient or donor to maintain safety standards
- Document all necessary information in patient or donor records
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and the patient or donor
- Adhere to all safety and infection control guidelines
- Performs interventions with scope, under the direction of the RN
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- Required to have completed at least 40 hours of phlebotomy training.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow protocols to maintain quality systems.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
Required Certification/Registration:
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
- BLS through the American Heart Association.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Knowledge of Epic.
- Experience with apheresis.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
