Scripps Mercy Hospital has served central and downtown San Diego since 1890 and is the oldest medical center in the county. The San Diego campus is located near the corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street in Hillcrest.
Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista.
Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego’s campus includes the O’Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit).
Job Description
This is a Per Diem Night shift Operations Supervisor position.

As Operations Supervisor, RN, you will work under the supervision of the Director of Patient Care Services and is primarily responsible for providing clinical/patient care support, supporting efficient patient throughput, maintenance of standards, and assuming the administrative role in crisis/disaster situations.
Additionally, the Operations Supervisor acts as a resource to facilitate timely and effective problem resolution in overall hospital operations for all departments and provides functional support for departments where these departments are closed. The incumbent in this position provides support for care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Responds to and manages difficult patient care problems and unplanned or emergent events in cooperation with the staff while maintaining standards which ensure quality care.
Promotes and maintains communication with nursing, medical, and management staff.
Facilitates the process of hospital-wide operations in collaboration with the Unit Manager/Charge Nurses.
Assists in the resolution of problems regarding patients, families, physicians, staff and takes appropriate follow-through action. In the case of drills and disasters, coordinates efforts of all departments, communicating clearly, and tactfully.
Acts as a professional role model and leader for staff including communication to appropriate manager of staff performance issues. Identifies the need for revision of, or the creation of policies, procedures, standards, or practice guidelines for the enhancement of patient care.
Experience/Specialized Skills:
At least three years of nursing experience with demonstrated excellence in clinical nursing practice and leadership preferred.
Required Certification/Registration:
Current California RN license. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS and ACLS.
Required Education/Course(s)/Training:
BSN degree preferred.
