Job Description
This is a benefited, full time position generally working 12-hr night shift. Located at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.

What you’ll do:
- Function primarily as an RN with additional duties listed below.
- Takes responsibility for assigned patients during RN relief periods.
- Works collaboratively and educationally with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.
- Takes responsibility for education and guidance of Registered Nurses regarding the nursing process, critical thinking, accountability for the plan of care and its relation to patient outcomes, and communication/collaboration with all team members.
- Functions as a clinical expert, role model, mentor and resource in a designated practice area.
- Works collaboratively with the Charge Nurse, Educator and Manager of that area to develop a learning environment for the caregivers, as well as a service, outcome and care-oriented environment for the patients.
Experience/Specialized Skills:
- Minimum three years experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- Minimum two years experience in the specialty area preferred.
- Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Required Certification/Registration:
- Current California RN license required.
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
- NIHHS Stroke Certification within first six months of employment required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- CEN – Certified Emergency Nursing
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in an acute care setting
