We’re home to notable specialty programs including a 24-hour emergency room, accredited stroke care, physical rehabilitation services (including a brain injury day treatment program), our Baby Friendly birthing pavilion and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit.
Job Description
This is a part-time, benefit eligible position located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas. This position is for 8 hour shifts working every other weekend with variable shifts and hours.

As part of the Scripps Health pharmacy team, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians provide a broad range of clinical services at our sites and work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other health care team members to deliver high-quality, efficient services to patients and staff. They enjoy a practice environment that offers state-of-the-art technology and innovative tools in a collaborative and supportive workplace. Staff and leadership work side by side each day to improve processes and solve problems, all to provide quality service to patients.
Responsibilities include:
- Obtain medication histories in an accurate, professional and efficient manner for patients newly admitted to the hospital while in the Emergency Department
- Contacting community pharmacies, outpatient providers, and patient family members to obtain needed medication information and coordinate care
- Complete assigned leadership roles in departmental projects and programs
- Performing basic pharmacy technician duties and more advanced pharmacy technician duties
Required Experience/Specialized Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Certification/Registration:
- Current Pharmacy Technician License.
- Certification by a National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) required within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum 2 years pharmacy technician experience.
Required Education/Course(s)/Training:
- 5 years inpatient experience preferred
