Scripps Mercy Hospital has served central and downtown San Diego since 1890 and is the oldest medical center in the county. The San Diego campus is located near the corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street in Hillcrest.
Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista.
Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego’s campus includes the O’Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit).
Job Description
This is a non-benefited, per diem position, with 8-hour shifts anytime between 7am to 7pm, no weekends, at our ambulatory pharmacy located at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego. May float to other ambulatory pharmacy locations as needed. Training will occur at all retail sites for the first 2-4 weeks.

Scripps Pharmacy has four convenient locations on the campuses of Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas and Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego. The pharmacies provide new and refill prescriptions, prescriptions for specialty medications and they can transfer existing prescriptions from our inpatient pharmacies to our three Scripps Pharmacy locations. Our friendly, knowledgeable and highly trained team of pharmacists and support staff are available to provide immunizations, as well as consultations on medication use and over-the counter (OTC) products.
Responsibilities include:
· Under the direction of the guidance of the PIC, the Clinical Pharmacist provides daily oversight of the dispensing workflow and technical and support staff.
· The Clinical Pharmacist provides patient services that include medication adherence, medication therapy monitoring, medication education and therapeutic drug and disease state management as authorized by a collaborative provider.
· The clinical pharmacist will actively participate in medication dispensing, billing and collections.
· The Clinical Pharmacy shall place the highest priority on ensuring compliance with all laws, regulatory and professional practice standards.
· The Clinical Pharmacist will actively support the quality assurance programs, performance metrics including customer satisfaction, financial budgets and targets and operations efficiencies.
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
· BS Pharmacy.
Required Certification/Registration:
· California Pharmacist License.
· Knowledge of handling and processing insurances.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
· Doctor of Pharmacy
· 2 year experience in retail pharmacy or hospital setting
