Scripps Mercy Hospital has served central and downtown San Diego since 1890 and is the oldest medical center in the county. The San Diego campus is located near the corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street in Hillcrest.

Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista.

Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego’s campus includes the O’Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit).

Job Description

The Occupational Therapist provides evaluation, assessment, prognosis, treatment and education to patients and clients through a continuum of care according to the therapist’s respective licensure/registration/certification, Code of Ethics, Federal/State regulations, JCAHO/UMQC and Care Center policies and procedures. Performs competencies as outlined in Rehabilitation Services Competency Assessment tools. Demonstrates age specific care as established for area and job title.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills: Minimum of five years experience as an occupational therapist in an outpatient orthopedic setting required. Minimum of two years’ experience as an outpatient hand therapist required to work in the clinical hand therapy department. Ability to perform all baseline clinical therapy interventions and coordinate all aspects of patient care. Effective interpersonal, communication, organizational & time management skills. Graduate of accredited school of occupational therapy (BS or MS degree).

Required Certification/Registration: Current occupational therapy license in State of California. Current BLS certificate.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification: Additional certifications (i.e., CHT or progressing towards CHT) preferred.

Position Pay Range: $52.28-$75.96/hour

Please also note this range is applicable for employees who reside in California only. A geographical pay differential may be applied for remote employees who reside out of state.
