The Vice President of Regional Finance Operations will oversee the financial operations for Scripps’ North Region hospitals, ensuring revenue integrity, optimizing cost efficiency, and improving both quality and patient experience. This role is responsible for supporting the development and execution of financial plans, strategies, policies, and accounting practices, ensuring consistency across business units. The Vice President will actively participate in developing and managing the operating budget, business plans, and capital workbooks, while driving initiatives to enhance patient care and operational performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing financial operations within the assigned area, focusing on achieving cost efficiency and cost per unit targets.
- Recommending, evaluating, and aligning regional short- and long-term strategic objectives with site and system-wide goals.
- Coordinating the annual operating and capital budget process, including the development and maintenance of three- and five-year capital plans.
- Communicating actual financial performance versus budget and objectives to senior management.
- Leading and coordinating the month-end and year-end close processes for the assigned sites.
- Collaborating with senior management to manage critical business processes and implementing system-wide performance improvement initiatives.
- Leading a high-performing, responsive financial team with a strong analytical approach to business, fostering open communication and operational excellence.
- Identifying key priorities, diagnosing problems, and generating solutions that enable sound management decisions.
- Aligning resources, technology, and personnel with business objectives to create sustainable competitive advantages and achieve financial goals.
- Overseeing site and system-wide performance improvement activities to enhance quality of care and service.
- Managing human resources to ensure a skilled, empowered workforce with effective communication, collaboration, and operational efficiency.
- Developing and coaching leadership to strengthen teamwork, communication, and performance across departments and business units.

Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience, with a demonstrated track record of growth in finance management roles.
- Experience in healthcare financial management, particularly within a multi-hospital system.
- Expertise in all financial functions with strong technical acumen.
- Exceptional communication and project management skills.
- In-depth understanding of healthcare compliance, revenue cycle management, Medicare/Medi-Cal regulations, and managed care contracts.
- Familiarity with state and federal healthcare regulations, including California Title 22 and Joint Commission standards.
- Proficiency in accrual accounting principles, contractual allowances, and the financial close process.
- Working knowledge of Epic, Access, Microsoft Office, and other applications as needed.
Preferred Education/Experience/Certification:
- Master’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration.
