Job Description
This is a benefit-eligible, full-time position (72 hours every 2 weeks) working 12 hour day shifts on varied days of the week, including weekends and holiday rotation, and located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas Medical Acute 2 North unit.

The Medical Acute 2 North team is seeking a Patient Care Assistant who is self-motivated and committed to providing exceptional patient care. In this role you will be assisting patients with their activities of daily living, performing vital signs, and performing EKGs. This 37 bed unit primarily hosts a post-operative patient population with medical overflow. We are looking for someone who can work efficiently and collaborate as a team.
The duties of the Patient Care Assistant include:
- Provides excellent service to patients as a key member of the clinical care team
- Assists patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and ensures the patient has a safe, organized environment
- Assists with patient care within the scope permitted and under the direction of a clinician
- Supports the unit with a variety of patient logistic, clerical, equipment/supply, and charge reconciliation

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider OR current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school OR current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
- Must be able to speak, read and follow instruction in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a service aptitude.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
- One (1) year of acute care experience
- Multiple patient care skills
- C.N.A. Certification
