Job Description
This is a Full-Time (80 hours every two weeks) benefited position working four 10 hour shifts per week. This is an onsite position and the candidate must be local in San Diego or willing to relocate.

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for producing and distributing timely and accurate paychecks and payroll information in compliance with company policy and government regulation. Performs all activities necessary to process one or more payrolls, including maintaining related records, filing tax and voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing reports for management. Provides a high level of service to all Scripps employees.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- Experience with computerized accounting systems and complex pay policies.
- Personal computer skills is required.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, with emphasis on Excel is required.
- Ability to maintain privileged and sensitive information confidential.
- High level of personal accountability for accuracy, attention to detail, and completion of work assignments.
- Capacity to work under conditions of constant change, deadlines, and scrutiny.
- Ability to successfully interact with employees and outside agencies.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously is necessary.
- A high school diploma is required.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
- A minimum of two years payroll experience is desired.
- Familiarity and understanding of federal and state wage and labor law is preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Accounting related course work is beneficial.
- Experience with Lawson ERP is desired.
- Payroll certificate desired.
- Experience in a multi-institutional setting is desirable.
