Job Description
This is a benefited, part time (40 hours per two week pay period) position with 8-hr day shift. The schedule will be alternating two days (Tuesdays and Fridays) then three days a week at the Mericos Eye Center on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

The Scripps Mericos Eye Institute, located on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California, is a nationally recognized center for excellence in eye care and clinical research. We offer comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, including innovative eyesight correction technologies such as cataract and laser surgery. We are looking for an Ophthalmic Technician experienced with imaging and laser procedures.
The Ophthalmic Tech is responsible for:
· Performing patient assessments and technical skills to accurately assess the ophthalmic status of each patient, including emergency procedures and medication administration as appropriate.
· Educates patients and documents patient interactions.
· Practices infection control
· Contributes to the team as necessary to ensure quality patient care.
· Additional responsibilities include: managing technician schedules, supply and medication ordering and inventory.
· Assist with imaging procedures including OCT, WaveScan, Visual Field, IOL Master
· Assist with laser procedures including Lasik, PRK, Catalys Lser, YAG/SLT Laser, Aargon Laser
Required Qualifications:
- Current BLS card for Healthcare Professional from American Heart Association (AHA)
- Ophthalmic Technician experience with imaging and laser procedures
Preferred Qualification:
- Laser certification: Vixs/AMO Laser certification, Vixs/AMO Femto laser certification, Catalys laser certification, or Idesign certification
- Ophthalmic Technician Certificate preferred
- Completion of a certified Ophthalmic Technical program preferred
- Ability to scribe
- Epic experience
