Job Description
The Scripps Health Mercy Hospital San Diego Perinatal Orientation and Education Program (POEP) provides the learning environment and essential foundation for a rewarding and successful career in maternal-child health nursing. The program is based on the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Perinatal Orientation and Education Program (POEP)™, and Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Periop 101 Program for Obstetrics. The program utilizes a blended learning approach of didactic on-line modules, assigned reading, videos, lectures, observations, labs, and clinical rotations in labor and delivery and postpartum.
Program Dates:
Postpartum: January 27, 2025* – April 5, 2025
Labor & Delivery: April 7, 2025 – August 23, 2025
*New Hires/Rehires must start employment on January 13, 2025

Selected Candidates:
- Must be available and willing to work night shift after program completion – shifts will be based on department needs
- Must be available to complete the entire program – class attendance is mandatory
- No paid time off (PTO) allowed during the program
- New Hires/Rehires must be able to start employment on January 13, 2025
Position Pay Range: $57.00-$81.60/hour
In compliance with the California Pay Transparency Act, Scripps Health posts the pay range for all jobs. Please note that actual pay will be determined based on relevant experience and internal equity within the pay range. Please also note this range is applicable for employees who reside in California only. A geographical pay differential may be applied for remote employees who reside out of state.
