Scripps Mercy Hospital has served central and downtown San Diego since 1890 and is the oldest medical center in the county. The San Diego campus is located near the corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street in Hillcrest.
Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista.
Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego’s campus includes the O’Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit).
Job Description
This is a part-time position working 20 hours/week at Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest with the MOST team. MOST is a structured global surgery program run out of Scripps Mercy that combines clinical care, logistics, and outreach.

Overview of position:
- Plan, implement, and coordinate services for an assigned clinical program
- Serve as a clinical expert and liaison among physicians, staff, agencies, and patients/families
- Provide clinical consultation and direct patient care to evaluate and improve care processes
- Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards
- Maintain up-to-date policies, procedures, and documentation
- Integrate research, best practices, and clinical workflows into program operations
- Collect, analyze, and share clinical quality performance data with committees
- Align all activities with the organization’s mission and vision
Daily Tasks:
- Triage patient inquiries and manage incoming clinical data from liaison
- Create visual summaries and materials for surgeon to review and patient selection
- Plan and oversee screening clinic operations, including workflow design, station layout, volunteer assignments, and patient prioritization
- Coordinate multidisciplinary clinical teams, including anesthesia, nursing, pharmacy, and surgeons.
- Ensure availability of appropriate medical supplies and equipment to support safe patient care.
- Support patient follow-up, documentation, and record maintenance.
- Identify and report quality improvement opportunities and present findings to the operations committee for discussion and action.

Required:
- BSN. RN.
- Two years recent clinical nursing experience in area of program specialty.
Required Certification/Registration:
- Specific to program, BLS, ACLS from AHA
Preferred:
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, patient safety standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of international philanthropic medical missions, including global health principles, cross-cultural care delivery, ethical standards, and coordination of sustainable, community-centered healthcare initiatives.
- Spanish speaking.
