Job Description
This is a Full-Time (72 hours per pay period) position with a 12-hour Day shift schedule that includes holidays and weekends.
Located at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla.
Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla has 173 licensed beds and more than 1,400 employees, Scripps Green campus includes Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines, which is home to more than 50 medical and surgical specialties; the Anderson Outpatient Pavilion; the Shiley Musculoskeletal Center; the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine; and an on-site pharmacy.
As a comprehensive transplant unit offering BMT and Solid Organ Transplant, we provide patient-focused care in our 24-bed, all private room unit. With 3-4:1 Nurse to Patient Ratios, our cohesive care teams work effectively and offer staff a sense of a home.
The RN Clinical Mentor functions primarily as an RN with additional duties. Take responsibility for assigned patients during RN relief periods. Works collaboratively and educationally with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care. Take responsibility for education and guidance of Registered Nurses regarding the nursing process, critical thinking, accountability for the plan of care and its relation to patient outcomes, and communication/collaboration with all team members. Functions as a clinical expert, role model, mentor and resource in a designated practice area. Work collaboratively with the Charge Nurse, Educator and Manager of that area to develop a learning environment for the caregivers, as well as a service, outcome and care oriented environment for the patients.
Experience/Specialized Skills:
· Minimum three years’ experience in an acute care setting preferred.
· Minimum two years’ experience in the specialty area preferred.
· Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
Required Certification/Registration:
· Current California RN license required.
· Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
Required Education/Course(s)/Training:
· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or the equivalent preferred.
