Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista.
Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego’s campus includes the O’Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit).

This is a full-time, hourly position located at our Scripps Mercy San Diego campus in Hillcrest. Must be available to work weekends.

The Senior Registered Dietitian functions as a clinical expert, role model, and resource in nutrition care. Provides coordination, training and staff development for clinical nutrition staff. Provides leadership for clinical initiatives, performance improvement, and other activities to improve patient care. Works collaboratively with the Food and Nutrition leadership to identify opportunities to develop both individual and collective clinical nutrition practice. Works closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide care that is integrated and compatible with the patient-focused medical goals and objectives. Demonstrates ability to apply Nutrition Care Process (NCP) including completion of the nutrition assessment, determination of the nutrition diagnosis, developing and implementing nutrition intervention(s), and monitoring and evaluating the patient’s progress. Provides service to patients of all ages from pediatrics to geriatrics. Uses established standards of practice and professional performance in nutrition care and practice-specific dietetics, and, as available, evidence-based practice protocols/nutrition practice guidelines to help determine interventions. May be involved in community-based nutrition programs, and maintains professional competency and skills required for professional practice. Demonstrates compliance to applicable regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Food/Nutrition
• One year RD experience in an acute care, sub-acute or skilled nursing setting
Required Certification/Registration:
• Registered Dietitian through the Commission of Dietetic Registration
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Food/Nutrition
• One of the following specialty certifications preferred: Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), Board Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition (CSR), Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO), Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition (CSG)
