Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista provides a variety of medical and surgical services, including inpatient and outpatient care. Within the hospital you’ll find our 24-hour emergency room and many other specialty services ranging from cancer care to stroke care.

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary based team in Chula Vista, CA. Social Workers provide an important role within the hospital by assisting patient and families with personal and environmental problems that predispose illness or interfere with their obtaining maximum benefits from medical care. They also:
· Will work on the medical and maternity floors
· Provide peer supervision for other staff, education for social work interns
· assist with program planning and organization of services.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while triaging patients with multiple psychosocial issues as well as discharge experience.
Required Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited university or college (MSW) OR Master’s degree in Family Therapy (MFT)
· MFT applicants must have hospital experience
- BLS for Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association
· Must be able to display good working relationships with patients, families, medical and nursing personnel, and all others employed at the hospital.
· Working knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies and appeal procedures as relative to the Federal, State and other reimbursement programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bilingual/Spanish highly preferred
· Acute hospital experience
· Licensed by the State of California Behavioral Science Examiners Board as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred. If candidate does not currently possess LCSW, this position offers LCSW supervision.
