The Scripps New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) Residency Training Program is specifically designed for new graduate nurse orientation, with the goal of creating standardized practice and facilitating role transition in the clinical environment. Clinical Coach and Preceptor RNs provide education, coaching, and mentoring to new graduate RNs during a 40-week period to develop their competence, confidence, critical thinking, and documentation skills. New graduates in the program are trained as a collective group in various units. Upon successful completion of the program, nurses will be placed in a position within the Scripps system.
This program requires that you are available to work periods of both day and night shifts. There is no PTO (paid time off) allowed during the program.
Program Dates: June 2, 2025 – March 7, 2026
Application Period: February 9, 2025 – February 15, 2025
- As part of the application process, qualified candidates will be required to record and submit an on-demand video interview via the HireVue/Modern Hire platform.

Hiring Manager Interview Period: March 3, 2025 – March 28, 2025
- Hiring leaders will review on-demand videos and completed applications during this period.
- If selected for a live interview, candidates will receive communication during this time period as well.

Trainees hired for this program may be required to complete a portion of the training program with the Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) located at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

While we are primarily seeking to fill positions in our June RN New Grad Program, we may consider candidates for a later start date based on program capacity and business needs.

License & Certification Requirements
- Current California RN License by the program start date (Scripps is no longer accepting Interim Permits)
- BLS for Health Care Provider from the American Heart Association by program start date
- ACLS from the American Heart Association may be required for selected units by program start date
Education & Experience Requirements
To be eligible to apply, new grads must have:
- Completed an accredited nursing program within the last 12 months at date of application for this program or will be finished with their nursing program and be fully licensed by the program start date.
- Six (6) months or less of RN experience at date of application for this program
