Scripps Mercy Hospital has served central and downtown San Diego since 1890 and is the oldest medical center in the county. The San Diego campus is located near the corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street in Hillcrest.

Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista. 

Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego’s campus includes the O’Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit).

Job Description

This is a an 8-hour shift Mon-Fri days position located at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego in Hillcrest.

What will you do?

The Medical Library Technician, under limited supervision, is primarily responsible for document delivery, including inter-library loans (ILL), acquiring journal articles, and providing copies from the library’s collection. Key responsibilities also include assisting patrons with library resources and equipment, updating and developing web content, and creating promotional materials like flyers and newsletters. The role involves cataloging prep, maintaining the library’s serials and book collection, and managing the annual inventory of materials. Additional duties encompass accurately recording daily statistics, circulation management, reference support, troubleshooting equipment, and maintaining the physical library space, including open/closing the library. The position requires staying informed of emerging trends and best practices in library systems.

Required:

Bachelor’s degree (any major) or Associate degree in library technology required.

 

Preferred:

At least one (1) year library experience, preferably in a document delivery or interlibrary loan.

Experience with HTML and CSS and using content management software such as MS Sharepoint and Sharepoint LibGuides, and other library-specific programs such as DOCLINE, OCLC, EZproxy and integrated library systems/catalog.

Position Pay Range: $26.16-$34.65/hour

In compliance with the California Pay Transparency Act, Scripps Health posts the pay range for all jobs. Please note that actual pay will be determined based on relevant experience and internal equity within the pay range. Please also note this range is applicable for employees who reside in California only. A geographical pay differential may be applied for remote employees who reside out of state.
