Job Description

General Information
This position serves as a transplant hepatologist at the Center for Organ and Cell Transplantation at Scripps Clinic. This physician will serve as an active member of the department of transplantation and be actively involved in the care of patients with liver disease and liver cancer, pre- and post-transplantation. Will have active responsibilities in program growth, development, networking and leadership. The physician will also be involved in the department of Gastroenterology, with active involvement in the training of GI fellows and residents. And be part of AST hepatology fellowship with requirements of hepatology certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Division Heads, Transplantation and Gastroenterology
  • Actively works with the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation
  • Provides clinical care, treatments, and procedures at the following sites:
    • Green Hospital
    • Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines
    • Outreach sites
  • Takes nights and weekend call for the division of Gastroenterology
  • Rotates on the liver inpatient service
  • Maintains professional education and clinical research activities
  • Actively participates in marketing and outreach activities for the Scripps Center for Organ and Cell Transplantation
  • Participates in Liver Transplant Program Development
  • Performs at least ½ day per week of endoscopic procedures
  • Participates in development of inpatient and outpatient protocols
  • Develops and implements quality assurance activities for the Liver Transplant Program
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of a liver transplant hepatology fellowship


  • Fellowship Training in Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology
  • Holds a certificate of Added Qualification for Transplant Hepatology
  • Current California Medical License
  • Current DEA certificate
  • Application for Nevada Medial License may be required
