Job Description

The Telemetry Technician works under the supervision and direction of the Manager and/or Charge Nurse. The Telemetry Technician observes patients' cardiac monitoring and reports rhythm changes and arrhythmia's to primary nurse and/or charge nurse; documents arrhythmia's and records rhythm strips and other data per policy; maintains telemetry equipment; performs 12 lead EKG's; and performs clerical duties as directed by charge nurse and/or Manager. Maintains own competency and mandatory education requirements. Demonstrates ability to perform competencies as outlined in the Telemtry Competency Assessment tools. Demonstrates age-specific care as established for area and job title.

Job Requirements

Experience/Specialized Skills: Basic Computer skills preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.

Required Certification/Registration:Basic Arrhythmia Certification. BLS for Health Care Provider Required

Required Education/Course(s)/Training: High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Successful completion of ScrippsHealth EKG Examination.
