Our team remains committed to professional development, dedication to their team members and best care practices, and making patients feel comfortable and informed about their care.  Our surgical support staff focus on the unique skills required for assisting patients before, during, and after procedures. 
 
The Surgical Equipment Tech works under the supervision of the Manager to provide technical support of the surgical patient. Organizes electrical equipment, establishes the sterile field, and provides support for the surgical team. Knowledgeable in the practice of aseptic technique in the operating room environment. Effectively functions as a team member, accepts directions, responsibility, accountability, and maintains ethical standards. Assure monitoring of environment and all other duties as required. The Surgical Equipment Tech acts as a liaison between Materials Management, Biomedical Department, and the Operating Room.
 
This position is Full Time, Days, and located at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Must have knowledge of technical equipment used in the Surgery department
  • Must meet annual Peri-operative service partner competencies
  • Ability to speak, read, and follow directions in English
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a team environment.
  • Computer skills including keyboarding
  • High school diploma
 
Required Certification/Registration:
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association (AHA)
 
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Current training and competency in Hospital Operating Room setting with emphasis on surgical equipment and anesthesia delivery equipment preferred 
  • Prior Perioperative Service Partner preferred
