As Supervisor, Revenue Cycle in Insurance follow-up (denials, billing and appeals) you will be responsible for daily operations of the assigned Patient Accounts department. You will be responsible for mentoring/coaching as well as all aspects of performance management of staff. Additionally, you will work to ensure appropriate training and technical support is available to staff.

You will play an integral role to oversee and perform quality audits to assure consistency and standardization of procedures and optimizes patient experience. You will ensure compliance with policies/procedures and standards of care. Be actively involved in improvement efforts, workflow design and validation with input on policies and procedures. You’ll manage departmental resources effectively. Perform quality audits, providing retraining or action plans as needed to improve accuracy and meet production/patient satisfaction targets. Generate and review reports to track performance outcomes, perform root cause analysis to identify performance improvement needs.

You will be responsible for working with leadership on process improvement, tracking all efforts and outcomes. Monitor reports to identify additional process improvement opportunities. Assign work based on staffing levels and work load to optimize productivity and meet department standards. Communicate with customers including clinical and non-clinical staff, physicians and leadership to manage department operations. Provide timely feedback to staff on job performance, improvement or corrective actions as needed.

Additionally, you will provide input on and may conduct staff annual performance evaluations. Be responsible for keeping abreast of current policies, practices and procedures and provide guidance to staff. Assist in urgent situations requiring immediate decision making. Be responsible for assisting/preparing staff schedules and managing coverage arrangements to ensure excellent patient care.

This position is full-time (80 hours per pay period), Salaried position located at Rancho Bernardo.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • 3 years experience customer service or healthcare/medical office environment.
  • 1 year of related leadership experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of computer applications, excellent mathematical skills and ability to handle monies.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; innovative with ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Able to adapt, prioritize and meet deadlines.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, commercial and government health insurance and billing guidelines, ACA requirements, understanding of DRG's, Medical ICD9/ICD10 codes and CPT/HCPC Codes and Modifiers are preferred.
  • Experience in the revenue management of professional billing follow-up.
  • Experience analyzing denials and root cause.
  • Previous Health Plans experience.
  • Understanding regulations and clinical policy related to professional claims billing.
  • Epic working experience preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills highly preferred.
