The Health Information Supervisor assures smooth and efficient work flow for timely and accurate processing of medical records after discharge or termination of outpatient activity for the billing process to occur. Ensures that adequate and orderly filing and tracking systems are installed and maintained for optimal record retrieval purposes. Coordinates off-site storage and retrieval of medical records, according to state and federal security guidelines. Serves as a key contact with financial services to coordinate issues regarding coding concerns and/or accuracy of information collected for patient's bills.
 
This is a FULL TIME, Exempt position, DAYS and located at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in a Health Information Management Department, preferably in an acute-care setting.
  • Experience required with DRG reimbursement, discharge processing and automated systems.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of hospital personnel, physicians, and external contacts.

 
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • RHIA or RHIT from AHIMA.
  • Associate's degree in Health Information. Supervisory experience.
