Join a winning team supporting the Speech Therapy Department at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla as a Speech Pathologist. You will work closely with the other teams within the rehabilitation department to provide the best patient care possible. The ideal candidate is comfortable in the acute care environment and is eager to learn as this team is heavily involved in projects around this busy Level I Trauma Center and Stroke Center.
 
The Speech Pathologist provides evaluation, assessment, prognosis, treatment and education to patients and clients through a continuum of care according to the therapist's respective licensure/registration/certification, Code of Ethics, Federal/State regulations, JCAHO/UMQC and Care Center policies and procedures. Performs competencies as outlined in unit specific competency assessment tools. Demonstrates age specific care as established for area and job title.
 
This position is a Casual (Per Diem) position, requires at least two weekend days per month, and is located at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

Job Requirements

Required Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Must be able to have a variety of problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with internal and external customers
Required Certification/Registration:
  • Current, pending, or RPE temporary California State licensure
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider certification from American Heart Association
Preferred Experience:
  • 1 or more years of Acute Care experience
