The Security Officer position supports Scripps Health through the performance of duties which provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, medical staff, and property. Provides a visible deterrent to criminal activity and actively patrols assigned areas. Ensures policies and procedures are carried out and reports non-compliance. Responds to emergency situations and when appropriate provides guidance for the safe management of the situation, communicating with leadership as necessary. Work is accomplished under the direction of the Security management. Displays and practices a work style that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of the organization.

This position is full-time (80 hours per pay period), varied shifts and weekend availability required, located at Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest.

Job Requirements

Required Certification/Registration:
•Must possess California State Guard Card through the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS).
•Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association (AHA) by hire date.
•Must possess a bondable California Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Prior security, law enforcement, or healthcare related experience.
