The Security Investigator supports Scripps Health through the completion of complex cases and projects including but not limited to; workplace violence, theft, misconduct, unauthorized facility access, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance. The Security Investigator will conduct interviews, collect data, and report findings in a confidential and professional manner. Collaboration with internal teams and law enforcement agencies is vital to the successful completion of investigative assignments. Strong investigative techniques and an ability to interpret and assist in maintaining compliance to regulatory requirements and Scripps Health policies is critical. Participation in the development and presentation of workplace violence and security related training is also critical to this role.
This position is Full Time and located at Scripps Corporate offices La Jolla.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in an area relevant to this position.
  • 5 years investigative experience with physical security operations in the public or private sector. Knowledge and proven experience with regulatory compliance (such as Title 8, Title 22, Joint Commission, CMS), risk assessments, security protocols and concepts such as Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design and site security, personnel security and protection, and utilization of information technologies to improve overall security posture for the safety of visitors, patients, and staff.
  • Proven interview skills, ability to conduct productive interviews and remain unbiased and objective.
  • Knowledge of the law, be methodical, and have understanding of human behaviors.
  • Possess observation and deduction skills and maintain meaningful notes and records.
  • Ability to develop and conduct training to large groups.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • Peace Officer Standards and Training Intermediate Certificate.
