Clinical Mentor Registered Nurse (RN) – Definitive Observation – Encinitas

Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas has served the growing communities of San Diego’s coastal North County since 1978. We offer a full range of clinical and surgical services, including North County’s first Primary Stroke Center, a regionally recognized brain injury program, state-of-the-art imaging center, 24-hour emergency room care and award-winning OB-GYN, maternal health and infant health services.
 
Join our Scripps Memorial Hospital, Encinitas, team of Definitive Observation. As a RN Clinical Mentor, you will function primarily as an RN with additional mentor responsibilities. You will take responsibility for assigned patients during RN relief periods and work collaboratively and educationally with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care. Also, you will be an educational resource and guide for the team of Registered Nurses regarding the nursing process, critical thinking, accountability for the plan of care and it's relation to patient outcomes, and communication/collaboration with all team members. You will function as a clinical expert, role model, mentor and resource in a designated practice area, and you will have the opportunities to work collaboratively with the Charge Nurse, Educator and Manager of that area to develop a learning environment for the caregivers, as well as a service, outcome and care oriented environment for the patients.
 
This is a 12 hour, full time, night position (0.9 FTE – 72 hours per pay period) with benefits.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • 2 years of RN acute care experience
  • 1 year of PCU acute care experience
  • Registered Nursing Degree from an Accredited School of Nursing
  • Active California RN license
  • BLS Healthcare Provider Certification through American Heart Association
  • NIHHS Stroke Certification within first six months of employment
  • Be able to speak, read and following instructions in English.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate positive behaviors
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years of adult acute care RN experience
  • 2 years of definitive observation RN experience
  • ACLS Healthcare Provider Certification through American Heart Association
  • BSN - Bachelor’s degree in nursing
