The Research Scientist-Physician designs, conducts and assists with biomedical research or experimental protocols to improve the health of diverse populations. The position will support the expansion of federally-funded community engaged research programs. Under the immediate supervision of the Corporate Vice President, the Research Scientist-Physician will carry out activities related to development, implementation and evaluation of future research studies. Additional duties include review of study patients; the analysis of results and appropriate peer reviewed reporting of results; scientific software programming and protocol writing to achieve valid experimental results by academic standards; and oversight of experimental operations applicable to areas of scientific inquiry in which the candidate is responsible. The Research Scientist-Physician will participate in grant writing by conducting systematic literature reviews, data analyses, and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and dissemination of study results. Collaborate on ongoing research. Publish and give professional conference presentations. Contribute to administrative aspects of the project. Prepare summary reports, and deliver presentations related to the evaluation of the projects as needed. Assist with data coding, entry verification and analyses. The position will work closely with management team to identify strategic funding priorities, identify potential funding streams, develop and submit proposals, and manage all elements of the research process, including by not limited to federal and foundation proposals. Manage partner activities as it pertains to research program collaborations. Oversee participant recruitment and data collection efforts. Maintain communication and relationships with target communities. Together with the Corporate Vice President will be responsible for oversight of grant budget and fund usage. Performs other related duties as assigned. The Research Scientist-Physician will have Community Based Participatory Research expertise to incorporate in the research.

Please note this position is a casual/per-diem level grant funded position which will work a day shift schedule. 

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
MD or DO with emphasis in diabetes and metabolism research.
Three to five years of progressive experience in government related grant development and management.
Two years experience coordinating or conducting projects and research in a community setting.
Ability to thrive in a team setting with an interdisciplinary group including physicians, data analysts, scientists and laboratory staff is essential.
Physician with experience caring for patients in diverse ethnic and racial communities.
Ability to function independetly and effectively in a leadership role and project team setting.
Strong English and language skills required in both speaking and writing.
Experience in collaborating with community-based programs, governmental agencies, health agencies, academic institutions.
Experience with administration and reporting of major grants.
Research experience in the areas of health disparites, Latino health and diabetes.

MD or DO, CITI research training certification.
