The Clinical Research Administrator ensures research, grant proposal planning and submissions, grant award administration cycle, material transfer and data use arrangements, and support of the research team to ensure Scripps and affiliated Principal Investigators (PI’s) are aligned and processed per regulatory guidelines.  Engages the major and minor research functions supporting Industry Contracts, Government Grants, SMF Internal Grants, and external Foundation Grants. Works with individuals and physician faculty to source relevant biopharma funding for particular areas of research. Provides support, coordination and communication for research grants and proposals, to include content editing and project management of multi-faceted grant applications.
Please note this position has a Monday through Friday day shift work schedule and is a salaried/exempt status position. 

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's in business, accounting, regulatory affairs, entrepreneurism or related area required.
Ten (10 ) years in an administrative office supporting all levels and facets of clinical research grants and trials.
Experience in multiple clinical research operational or regulatory areas (e.g., contracting, coverage billing, human subject safety/ethical research, FDA, NIH,, SAM, OIG, OIR, OHRP, etc.).
Working knowledge of Federal and state laws and regulations related to clinical research grant submissions and grant billing.
Extensive experience in research budgeting, contracting, and human research ethics, including regulatory areas, to ensure the institution is compliant with state and federal requirements and Scripps policies/procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's in business administration or related emphasis preferred and/or five (5 ) year's post bachelor's equivalent experience/training.
Knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; working knowledge of accounting and payroll processes.
Knowledge of research methodology and proven experience addressing legal, audit, and operational issues affecting clinical research and institutional risk and liability.
Knowledge of common organization-specific and primary MS Office application programs.
Proven ability to develop and review complex legal agreements for a variety of research agreements, including general research, confidentiality, consulting, services, material transfer agreements, data use agreements, and patent administration.
Proven ability to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations and negotiations.
Excellent written communication skills, including ability to construct legal language as well as persuasive correspondence.
Service oriented interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of researchers, executives, staff, industry legal and industry technical representatives.
