We invite you to join our highly engaged team of Registered Nurses in the Critical Care Transport team at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. The RN is responsible for providing direct patient care within the scope of practice. They provide therapeutic and emergency interventions, and efficiently prepare the patient for transport (via ground, helicopter, or airplane). The RN must communicate effectively with outside institutions/agencies, including hospitals, EMS, police and fire departments while maintaining contact with patients, families, referring facility staff and public safety personnel during and after contact to provide continuous loop closure and information sharing.

In addition, the Critical Care Transport RN represents the Transport Team as a customer service ambassador for Scripps Health. They maintain a professional demeanor at all times and support hospital units as a resource for patient care while not on active transport.
This is a 12-hour Full Time, Night Shift position.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Active California Registered Nurse License
  • Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification
  • Minimum of 3 years current staff nursing experience to include emergency and/or critical care experience. While a mixture of this experience is acceptable, the candidate must have at MINIMUM, two years of critical care experience.
  • Must demonstrate leadership abilities and critical thinking skills and autonomous practice in the setting of hemodynamically unstable patients, critically ill patients, patients with airway or respiratory compromise, acute myocardial infarction and / or multi system organ failure.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Critical Care transport experience (ground and air)
  • Clinical experience with ECMO, cardiac assists devices, and advanced ventilation techniques
  • Advanced nursing certification in one or more areas of practice (e.g. CCRN, TNCC)
