The Scripps Emergency Nursing Training Program is a 12 week program that facilitates the transition of an experienced RN with varied clinical background, to an advanced beginner Emergency Nurse.  The program utilizes four teaching modalities: an online educational component developed by The Emergency Nursing Association, lectures by expert speakers who generalize the didactic to the bedside, hands-on skills and simulation learning, as well as clinical orientation with trained preceptors in the Emergency Departments across the system.  As a result of this program, nurses are supported as they develop knowledge and skills to care for the challenging and varied population of patients that seek care in the Emergency Department setting. The classroom portion is system-wide, positions and clinical training are site based. 

Positions are available at Scripps Encinitas, Scripps La Jolla and Scripps Mercy Chula Vista.

Selected applicants will be offered a full-time position in ED at Scripps Encinitas, Scripps La Jolla or Scripps Mercy Chula Vista.  The training program is 12 weeks in length from 8/19/2019 - 11/9/2019.  Upon successful completion of the program, selected candidates will assume a full-time position on their unit.  Shifts offered will be based on shift availability at that time, however candidates should anticipate being offered night shift. 

Must be available to begin employment with Scripps on 8/5/2019 for orientation.

Time frame for program selection and start:
Interviews: Week of 6/24/2019 or 7/1/2019
Hire Date with Scripps: 8/5/2019

Program State Date: 8/19/2019 Note: Candidates must be available for the entire program.   There is no scheduled PTO during the program.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
  • Current California RN license
Minimum Qualifications:
  • One year recent  RN experience in an acute care (hospital) setting.
  • BLS for Health Care Provider, ACLS, and PALS from the American Heart Association required by start date. 
  • Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English, excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN preferred
