We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Lead Registered Dietitian to join our WIC team. Our diverse team is dedicated to serving the community with the highest quality of care.
 
The Lead, RD will coordinate training and staff development for WIC program staff at designated sites within the Scripps Mercy Hospital WIC service region. Provides medical nutrition therapy and nutrition care to all clients utilizing technical skills in an outpatient setting. Skills include clinical assessment screening for nutritional risk developing implementing and monitoring a nutrition care plan education and follow-up. Provides service to patients of all ages from pediatrics to geriatrics. Compliance to JCAHO Standards Title XXII and other applicable regulatory requirements. Demonstrates ability to perform competencies as outlined in FNS Competency Assessment tools. Demonstrates age specific care as established for area and job title.
 
This position is Full-Time, 8 hour DAY shifts, Monday-Friday including some Saturday’s

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Minimum one year experience as a dietitian
  • Bilingual English Spanish required
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Food and Nutrition Services Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics from an accredited college or university. Completion of a dietetic internship or other training program which has been approved by the American Dietetic Association.
  • Must have considerable knowledge of normal therapeutic and community nutrition and effective interpersonal community and counseling techniques
  • Basic knowledge of breastfeeding benefits physiology and procedures organization and function of public health and entitlement eligibility systems
  • Must be able to work independently with general guidance assess plan implement and evaluate WIC service activities use creativity and independent judgment identify resource of information network with professional inside and outside of the WIC program
  • Positively represent the WIC program and its interests communicate clearly and effectively with WIC Nutrition Program Manager Supervisor other WIC staff clients and a wide variety of community contacts in both written and verbal form exercise patient and tact while interacting with clients public and staff
  • Use a variety of audiovisual equipment operate an personal computer and common application software programs and type at least 35 words per minute.
Required Certification/Registration:
  • Registered Dietitian through the Commission of Dietetic Registration. Registered Dietitian credentialed with or eligible for registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration probation will continue until registered status is documented and expected to maintain such status with appropriate continuing education.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
  • Experience in community nutrition, public health or WIC program
