Scripps Clinic Radiation Therapy Center is seeking an experienced Radiation Physicist in sunny San Diego. As part of our dynamic team, you will participate in all aspects of the operations of the physics services, including commissioning, acceptance testing of the equipment, calibration and maintenance of dosimetry and imaging systems, implementing treatment procedures and providing physics consultations in direct patient care activities. Candidates should be flexible to work at multiple sites as needed. You will join a team of 3 dosimetrists and 2 Physicists.
 
Department equipment includes three Varian linacs, MOSAIQ R&V, Pinnacle treatment planning, GE CT simulator, Nucletron HDR and OncentraBrachy planning, Accuray CyberKnife and MiltiPlan planning. We will upgrade to Varian Edge/TruBeam, Eclipse, and Aria in the next 6 months. There is also a full complement of physics equipment.
 
Under the supervision of the Director of Radiation Oncology, The Radiation Physicist delivers the planned course of radiation therapy, calculates dosage, documents all treatments, set-up instructions, measurements and photos. Responsible for treatment planning and some radioactive implant procedures. Does all treatment planning and radiation therapy according to the physician's orders. Oversees the radiation therapists and assists the Director as assigned. Ability to perform competencies as outlined in Radiation Oncology Competency Assessment tools. Demonstrates age-specific care as established for area and job title.
 
This is a full-time, day shift position (1.0 FTE, 80 hours per pay period).   

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • College graduate with graduate courses in radiation physics.
  • Accuracy in all technical/clerical duties, proven successful constant public contact and co-worker courtesy.
  • Manipulation of numbers and complex problem-solving skills.
Required Certification/Registration:

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • ABR or ABMP board certified with at least five years of clinical experience
  • Master or PhD Degree in Radiological Medical Physics or related field
  • Recent experience working in complex environments, experience with MOSAIQ, ARIA and Varian equipment preferred.
  • Experience in the BrainLab/ExacTrac is a plus
  • Experience working with HDR and Accuboost highly desired
