Job Description

Psychiatric Liaison Nurse functions as part of a team to perform psychiatric evaluations of patients throughout the Scripps Health Care system. The PLN supports patient care staff with the nursing care of patients with behavioral problems and/or patients experiencing problems related to their medical illnesses. These clinicians provide diagnostic impressions, including differentiating between medical and psychiatric disorders and determining suicidality, homicidally or grave disability. Triage behavioral health patients to the level of care that will ensure appropriate utilization of resources. Demonstrates decision-making skills and knowledge in clinical impression, collaboration, consultation, education, mentorship, and leadership. Responsible for identifying and developing approaches to enhance behavioral health care of all persons throughout the system.

Job Requirements

Experience/Specialized Skills: Three (3) years of recent RN experience in a Psychiatric Acute or Emergency Services setting within a hospital environment, five (5) years preferred.
Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English. Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors.

Required Certification/Registration: California Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS from American Heart Association.

Required Education/Course(s)/Training: Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required, MSN preferred. Advanced Practice RN, CNS/NP in Psych Mental Health, leadership experience/coaching/mentoring preferred.
