As part of the Scripps Health pharmacy team, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians provide a broad range of clinical services at our sites and work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other health care team members to deliver high-quality, efficient services to patients and staff. With our prized Swisslog BoxPicker and tube system, our pharmacy team at La Jolla takes pride in maintaining accuracy, efficiency and timely services while processing 250-300 inpatient prescriptions per day. Our pharmacy technicians are supported in their growth and development by our leadership in navigating their career in pharmacy.

The Pharmacy Technician I performs basic pharmacy technician duties, working under the supervision of registered pharmacists. These duties include stocking Pyxis machines, running special deliveries and orders, repackaging medication into proper doses, and sterile compounding.

This is a Full-Time position (0.875 FTE) with (6) 10.25-hour night shifts and (1) 9.25-hour night shift. The Pharmacy Technician will be working 7 days on followed by 7 days off (Wednesday night through Tuesday morning).

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of Pharmacy Technician Program
  • California Board of Pharmacy Certification

  • Certification by National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
  • 1 year inpatient experience or hospital externship
