As part of the Scripps Health pharmacy team, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians provide a broad range of clinical services at our sites and work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other health care team members to deliver high-quality, efficient services to patients and staff. Under direct supervision of the ED Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Medication Reconciliation Technician works independently and obtains medication histories in an accurate, professional and efficient manner for patients newly admitted to the hospital while in the Emergency Department. May include, but not limited to contacting community pharmacies, outpatient providers, and patient family members to obtain needed medication information and coordinate care.

The Pharmacy Medication Reconciliation Technician will perform complex, specialized duties regarding automated dispensing machines, robotics, repackaging devices and/or are assigned leadership roles in departmental projects and programs. May periodically be responsible for performing basic pharmacy technician duties and more advanced pharmacy technician duties that may include billing and/or IV Clean Room responsibilities based on site specific needs. Works under the supervision of registered pharmacists.

This is a full time position with varied shifts, primarily morning or early afternoon start times, including rotating weekends. This tech will be joining two other techs to complete a team of three - one tech per shift with little overlap Monday through Friday, and completely independent on weekends.

Job Requirements

Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of Pharmacy Technician Career Program
  • California Board of Pharmacy Certification
  • Certification by a National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board

Preferred:
  • 5 years inpatient experience
  • Retail experience
