Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista provides a variety of medical and surgical services, including inpatient and outpatient care. Located less than 10 miles from the US-Mexico border, Scripps Mercy serves the cities of Chula Vista, Otay Mesa, National City, Imperial Beach, Bonita and beyond.

Join our Surgical Acute team as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you will provide excellent service to patients as a key member of the clinical care team. You will assist patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collect data, and ensure the patient has a safe, organized environment. Assist with patient care within the scope permitted and under the direction of a clinician. Supports the unit with a variety of patient logistic, clerical, equipment/supply, and charge reconciliation duties.

Full-Time (72 hours per pay period), 12 hour NIGHT shifts, 6:30pm – 7:00am, varied work days that includes weekends and holidays - requirement is 3 weekends (Fri-Sun a month). Located at Scripps Mercy Chula Vista Hospital.







Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider OR current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school OR current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
  • Must be able to speak, read and follow instruction in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a service aptitude.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • CNA certification.
  • Multiple patient care skills preferred.
  • Preferred one year acute care experience
