We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Outpatient Oncology Social Worker to join our Scripps System Wide Initiative team.  As part of this team you will play an important role in our partnership with the Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center.  Scripps is proud to be partnering with MD Anderson to create a comprehensive and clinically integrated cancer care program in San Diego that will provide adult cancer patients greater access to the most advanced oncology care available throughout Southern California.
 
The Outpatient Oncology Social Worker at Scripps provides an important role within Outpatient Cancer program by assisting patients and families with personal and environmental problems which predispose illness or which interfere with their obtaining maximum benefits from medical care. As a member of the Scripps System Wide Initiative team you will be supporting multidisciplinary team members and clinics throughout the system.  Candidate is required to demonstrate ability to perform competencies as outlined in unit specific competency assessment tools as well as age specific care as established for a Clinical Social Worker in assigned area. 
 
This is a Full Time, 8 hour day shift position located at our office in the La Jolla area. (80 hours per bi-weekly pay period). Candidate must be flexible and willing to commute to other Scripps sites throughout the system as needed.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications: 
  • Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited University/College
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider American Heart Association
  • Working knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies and appeal procedures as relative to the Federal, State and other reimbursement programs
  • Must be able to display good working relationships with patients, families, medical and nursing personnel, and all others employed at the hospital
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • LCSW (Licensed by the State of CA Behavioral Science Examiners Board)
  • Outpatient Oncology, Oncology and/or Palliative Care/Hospice experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including but not limited to Outlook, Excel
