Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego is located in the heart of Hillcrest. Our healthcare professionals have the distinction of working in a Level 1 trauma hospital, the longest established hospital and only Catholic medical center in San Diego. 
 
We invite you to join our team, where our Orthopedic Technicians excel in an environment that supports independence and the ability to practice up to the highest scope of their license.  This position will help support the hospital, OR, and clinic.  You will have the opportunity to work with world-class surgeons, providing the best level of care to very high acuity cases. 
 
Our highly engaged Orthopedic Technicians work with a multi-disciplinary team, performing and assisting with patient assessments and technical skills to accurately assess the status of each patient, including procedures as appropriate. Evaluates patients and documents patient interaction. Practices infection control. Contributes to the team as necessary to ensure quality patient care.
 
  This is a casual (per diem), day shift position.
 
 

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • General working knowledge of casting and splint application and removal.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions.
  • Knowledge of sterile field maintenance and instrument sterility.
  • Technical competency in casting skills, suture removal as measured by OTC; basic wound dressing application.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good English language skills.
  • Ability to speak in person and on the telephone; read and follow instructions in English.
  • Patient concern and sensitivity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
 
Required Certification/Registration:
  • Current OTC certification required.
  • Current BLS required
 
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • Prefer one or more years of experience in an orthopaedic office or related orthopaedic office or related ortho field.
